Yellowstone National Park
One of the most famous natural preserves in the country, Yellowstone National Park is home to some of North America’s most diverse geologicaYellowstone National Parkl features and wildlife, and is accessible to the public for sight-seeing, camping, and other incredible outdoor recreation. Visitors to the park are treated with the gorgeous old growth forests, craggy mountains, thermal geysers, and massive waterfalls. The beautiful vistas are also the natural habitat of animals such as the Bison, Wolf, Elk, Grizzly Bear, Moose, and Bighorn Sheep. In all, Yellowstone has much to offer. The best known parts of the national park are the Yellowstone Geysers, one of which sticks out in most peoples’ minds in particular: Old Faithful. Given its name because of its impressive size and consistent eruptions, the Old Faithful geyser erupts about once every 35 to 100 minutes and reaches heights from around 100 to 200 feet. Although it may not be the largest geyser or the most frequently erupting geyser in the park, it is one of the most interesting geologically, as it has been erupting in the same manner ever since its documented discovery in 1870. Yellowstone is a major destination for hikers who come from worldwide to explore the terrain and fresh air. There are several different major hiking areas, all with different aspects of difficulty and different types of terrain. These areas include the Yellowstone Lake Area which hosts around 6 major trails, all of which traverse some part of the lakeshore and allow hikers to get great views of the scenery and the local wildlife. Other Yellowstone hiking areas include the Canyon Area and the Mammoth Area, both of which allow access to many different trails and routes through the rocky ground and forested areas. For many visitors, the highlight of the park is the Yellowstone wildlife, which can be viewed from park tours or from more independent hikes. Among the animals which visitors can view, the Grizzly bear is by far the most famous (and most dangerous), but the birds and other mammals are just as fascinating. Besides this, visitors to the park can also view the magnificent Yellowstone waterfalls, which include the Lower Falls, Upper Falls, Firehole Falls, Tower Fall, Osprey Falls, Mystic Falls, Union Falls, and FairyFalls. For tourists, Yellowstone National Park is not just a destination, but a whole trip in itself. A great way to play your Yellowstone vacation to make sure you include all the best camping, sightseeing, and recreation like fly fishing and white-water rafting, is to visit the internet for park guides and to stop by the visitors centers when you arrive at the park. Yellowstone recreation includes some very unique things such as award winning fishing spots, great dining, horseback riding, and even cross-country skiing during the winter season! With tons of different campgrounds and park tours available year round, Yellowstone camping is a great way to make a vacation special, and to get yourself outdoors in some of the most ruggedly beautiful geography on the continent.
