Big Sky Ski Resort
Big Sky Ski Resort in Montana is one of those few places on earth that lives up to its name. Under the wide clear sky surrounded by beautiful peaks and several feet of light fluffy powder, Big Sky has a pristine feeling all of its own. With plenty of activities and outdoor recreation for all interests and levels both summer and winter, Big Sky Ski Resort is an ideal getaway destination year round. It is one of the premier Montana ski resorts, and just a few glances make it obvious why that is.
Perhaps you aren’t the most avid skier, but your family is looking forward to a getaway. Or perhaps you are one of the many skiers whose body just refuses to understand why you have to ski 7 hours a day for 5 days in a row to make the most of your ski vacation at Big Sky. Either way, one step into the Solace Spa at Big Sky and you’ll feel relaxed already. Full sports, Swedish and aromatherapy massages are available, as well as some other unique treatments like “altitude adjustment” and hot stone massages can make the pain and soreness from a day on the mountain drift away into oblivion. Big Sky Ski Resort is more than just skiing or relaxing. It is fun for the whole family. The brand new tubing park is available for kids 10 and under at just $10 an hour, providing the winter fun for children too young to ski.
Of course, for those who are skiers or snowboarders, the Big Sky Ski Resort is one of the most acclaimed ski areas in the northwest, with more than 3,800 skiable acres and 150 named trails on three separate peaks. A skiable vertical rise of over 4,300 feet and a six mile long run make Big Sky a dream for avid skiers and riders. Add to this the average of 400+ inches of light powder a year and you have a fantasy just waiting to come true. Explore the wide, white expanses and test your ability on just about every terrain level imaginable, or head to the award winning Terrain Park to take yourself to an even higher level.
For added excitement during the winter months, an incredible fireworks display launches from the base of one of Big Sky’s peaks to the delight of onlookers every Saturday evening from Christmas through the closing of the resort. Don’t miss the chance to see these professional quality pyrotechnic displays – they are truly a work of art, and set against the backdrop of reflective snow and towering mountain peaks, they are spectacular. Also, when you need a day off from skiing, why not take a spin on the large, high quality ice-skating rink with your family? Skates can be rented cheaply, and the ice is smooth and well maintained.
Tickets and passes at Big Sky Ski Resort are offered with a variety of options. Three price ranges apply, Adult, Junior (11-17), and Senior (children 10 and under ski for free all season). Single day tickets are $75 for adult tickets and $55 for juniors (seniors pay $65). Multiple tickets for up to ten days can save as much as $67 on the price of each daily lift ticket. Season passes are also available, with early purchase discounts (purchased by Sept. 30th). Adult passes cost $1350 for unlimited skiing, Juniors and College students $770, and Seniors $1000.
