Belgrade Events

 Belgrade is small and vibrant town, and although it stays fairly quiet most of the year, there are times where it seems to explode with life. Here you will find descriptions and information about just a few Belgrade events and Belgrade festivals that should help you plan your next trip there. If you are going to Belgrade in the near future, there are some events you shouldn’t miss, and are even worth a trip in and of themselves.

 Even in Belgrade , Montana things get a little crazy sometimes. Hence, summer festival of arts known as Belgrade Crazy days. On August 11, 2007, Belgrade will celebrate its heritage and history with a display of crafts and folk art, music and dancing throughout the town. Most local shops and eateries offer special prices and deals and a wide variety of activities will be hosted all over town. No matter who you are or where you are from, the Belgrade Crazy Days will have you in a whirl of excitement.

 Another of the most interesting festivals in Belgrade, the 34th Annual Barnes Steam and Power Show is for die hard tractor buffs. With tractors now more than a century old on display as well as amazing demonstrations of outdated equipment like the upright boiler, the history of tractors might as well be on display in front of you. Grandparents and Great Grandparents can show their grandchildren how things were done when they were working on the farm, and they can see grain threshing, plowing, gas tractors, and steam engines all in operation. Camping is free, and meals can be purchased on the fairgrounds. The Steam and Power Show will be taking place this year (2007) during August 24th-26th. If you know anything about tractors, or want to learn, don’t miss it.

 One of the best things about towns like Belgrade is the community. In a larger city, you’d never be able to get everyone together to put on an event like the Belgrade Fall Festival, which will take place from September 15th-16th this year. The Belgrade Fall Festival is one of the oldest traditions in the area, going back almost forty years. The festival begins with a tantalizing barbeque which begins at noon at Fire Hall. The whole community of Belgrade pitches in to produce incredible, mouth watering meat and a wide variety of side dishes all prepared by volunteers. Afterwards, a parade marches down Main Street and many activities and displays are opened up, allowing children and adults alike to experience the fun. Arts and crafts, great food, live music and other entertainment, all provided by the Belgrade community…you don’t get that in a big city now, do you?

 Winter in Belgrade is just as fun as the summer, and one of the best events during winter is the Festival of Lights. Hosted in Belgrade on December 7th, this community wide event sponsors a Christmas celebration involving the entire town, with a variety of local handicrafts and folk art, live music, sleigh rides and a visit from everyone’s favorite man, Santa Claus. The town stays open later to accommodate the increased traffic; this is a night you should not miss if you plan to travel to Belgrade during December.
